REVIEW: Narciso Rodriguez Eau de Parfum Ambrée

Narciso Rodriguez Eau de Parfum Ambree was released in spring 2020, but to our noses it reads like a scent that’s perfect for late-summer and fall.

There’s no other way to put it: this delicious fragrance smells like woody bubblegum. Yep — exactly like the Hubba Bubba, gooey pink kind of bubblegum. And it’s DELIGHTFUL.

With Ambree, the chypre notes that are famous in Narciso’s repetoire are dropped and replaced with a nutty sweetness. Notes of frangipani and warm sugar open at first spritz. The immediate dry-down is a musky, dry cedar wood while over time it fades to a pleasant bubblegum. Middle notes are musk and amber, but we don’t detect any of the sharpness of amber.

The projection on the scent is mild to moderate and tends to fade after a few hours (but will last on clothes and in hair). This is a great perfume for anyone who is sensitive to fragrance.

Best time of day to wear?

The energizing sugar in Ambree makes it a light, sweet day-time fragrance. It would be great for the office or for a lunch date, but the sillage isn’t strong enough to weather a night out.

Buy or pass?

Buy it! Cedar and bubblegum shouldn’t work, but it does. It smells like the first day of school. It smells like a cute, autumnal romantic movie. It smells good enough to eat.
