Why You Need Gua Sha In Your Life

Gua sha isn’t just another beauty gimmick. This little tool will brighten up your skin, improve elasticity, and make you feel like you aged backwards.

Gua Sha is a massage tool made out of heavy glass, quartz or jade (anything smooth and unbreakable, really) that is used to gently scrape and massage the skin. The pressure from the curved edges of the gua sha tool helps to stimulate blood flow to make your skin look taut and glowy.

While that’s already enough to get us onboard, what we love most about the gua sha is that it is *seriously* relaxing. Massaging the heck out of your face forces you to be intimate AF with all of the nooks and crannies you’ve been neglecting. You’ll end up massaging parts of your face you didn’t even know you had.

A gua sha tool can also help relax the neck muscles, drain the sinuses, release tension and calm you the F down. Boosted mood and flawless skin? Yes, please.

Like a spa treatment and massage at home.

How to use it:

1. Start by applying a facial oil to your face, neck and decollete area. You want the area to be slick, because you want your gua sha tool to glide, not tug.

Start with an oil base.

2. Take the curved edge of the tool and start at your jawline, pulling up toward your ears. Repeat on both sides of your face.

Massage it in there!

3. From there, massage your forehead, under your eyes, your cheek and sinus area, and over your occipital cavity (just be gentle and don’t press too hard on your eyes!). You can even go over your lips and cupid’s bow area to stimulate blood flow there.

4. Use the tool to then massage the sides of your neck, over your decollete and your shoulders. How long you want the process to last is up to you — it depends on how much fluid build up and tension you feel in those areas.

5. After you gua sha, apply your moisturizers and serums as you usually would, massaging in small circles.

Finish up with your nighttime routine and sleep well!
